This Space Does Not Exist cuestiona la relación entre el espacio real y el imaginario, un conflicto que experimentamos por ejemplo en la paradoja de existir en el plano real y de estar capacitados para imaginar mundos infinitos. La exposición propone un trayecto de lo real a lo imaginario y de lo imaginario a lo real. Esta muestra agrupa obras de cinco jóvenes artistas: Virginia Puertollano, Catara Rego, Javier Marte, Paula Cremades e Isabel Merchante. Reunidos muestran varios enfoques sobre el espacio desmaterializado: dimensión virtual, ámbito onírico, reflejo de la realidad, ficción, ilusión, etc. La condición fluida del espacio facilita la diversidad de las propuestas individuales que no son sino modos singulares de representar un lugar. En él coexisten el mundo virtual y el mundo físico a través de técnicas variadas: realidad virtual, instalación, video, escultura y fotografía.

Las evidentes diferencias de las propuestas artísticas abundan en el concepto de una realidad virtual que no es únicamente producto de la tecnología, sino que existe desde que soñamos. Su base imaginaria se integra en nuestra realidad. Es observable la capacidad humana de recrear universos infinitos, desarraigados del plano perecedero. La sensación espacial se aloja en la vida interna de la imaginación. El ojo refleja una imagen que se transmite al cerebro, y cualquier fallo en la lente ocular condiciona las peculiaridades con las que vemos, pensamos y sentimos el espacio real Explorar los lugares desmaterializados es la propuesta que se presenta para que el espectador profundice en el mito del espacio como forma esencial de la imaginación y de la sensibilidad humana.

This Space Does Not Exist questions the relationship between real space and imaginary space, a conflict that we experience, for example, in the paradox of existing in the real plane and being able to imagine infinite worlds. The exhibition proposes a journey from reality to the imaginary realm and from the imaginary realm back to reality. This exhibition groups together works by five young artists: Virginia Puertollano, Catara Rego, Javier Marte, Paula Cremades and Isabel Merchante. United to show various approaches to dematerialized space: as a virtual space, as a dream space, as a reflection of reality, as fiction, as an illusion, etc. The flowing condition of space facilitates the diversity of individual proposals that are nothing but particular ways of representing a space, where the virtual world and the

physical world coexist through various techniques: virtual reality, installation, video, sculpture and photography.

The obvious differences of the artistic proposals abound in the concept of virtual reality not only as a product of technology, for it has existed since we dream. It has an imaginary base integrated into our reality. This is evidenced in the human capacity to create infinite universes which are uprooted from the worldly perishable plane. The perception of space is housed in the inner life of the imagination, since our eye reflects an image that is transmitted to the brain, and any failure in the ocular lens conditions the singularities with which we see, think and feel real space. Exploring dematerialized spaces is the proposal we present for the viewer to delve into the myth of space as an essential form of imagination and human sensitivity.

Éxtasis fatuo es una imagen de realidad virtual adaptada a un espacio efímero. El título es un verso del poema de Baudelaire, La máscara, en el que el poeta elogia la belleza de una estatua creada para proteger una tumba. La fotografía que ven no fue tomada en un cementerio, sino en la calle Ribera de Curtidores, en El Rastro de Madrid. Allí se exhiben las estatuas al aire libre y atraen la atención de personas para quienes el objeto artístico es simplemente pintoresco. Como en las pinturas barrocas, se transforma lo cotidiano en dramático, lo apolíneo en dionisíaco; y por medio de la edición digital se crea una ilusión que enmascara la realidad. Las estatuas se convierten en espíritus desmaterializados, llevados a la dimensión virtual.

Éxtasis Fatuo is a virtual reality image adapted to an installation. The title is a verse from Baudelaire's poem,The Mask, in which the poet praises the beauty of a statue that has been created for guarding a tomb. This photograph was not taken in a cemetery, but at El Rastro, in Madrid. Outdoors, where the statues are placed, they attract the attention of people for whom the artistic object is simply picturesque.As in baroque paintings, the everyday is transformed into the dramatic, the apollonian into the dionysian; and through digital edition, an illusion that masks reality appears. The statues become dematerialized spirits, taken to the virtual dimension.

Raccord Notes es un proyecto falso-documental de carácter postfotográfico, una ficción creada en torno a la idea de despertar de la ficción. El concepto raccord significa continuidad cinematográfica, un fallo de raccord es lo que alerta al espectador de que está viendo un montaje y por ello en la industria del cine hay personas encargadas de eliminar o impedir estos fallos. Las fotografías son apropiaciones del libro descatalogado Comment installe ses intérieurs Louis XVI (1956) encontrado en París. La artista percibe las habitaciones mostradas en el libro como artificiales y decide rescatarlas del olvido para transformarlas en los platós de la película La vie de Louis, ubicados en Tres Cantos, Madrid, donde Netflix está construyendo sus estudios. Se incluyen elementos dispares en las estancias: cables, una botella de plástico, auriculares, etc y se crea una historia ficticia: cada imagen debe servir para detectar y borrar los fallos de raccord.

Raccord Notes is a postphotographic mockumentary project, a fiction created around the idea of breaking fiction. The concept raccord means cinematic continuity, a raccord failure is what alerts the viewer that what they are watching is staged. The photographs are appropriations of the discontinued book Comment installe ses intérieurs Louis XVI (1956) found in Paris. The photographed rooms are perceived as artificial, as if they belonged to a movie set. These images doomed to oblivion are rescued and transformed into the sets of the film La vie de Louis, located in Tres Cantos, Madrid, where Netflix is building its studios. Different elements are included in the rooms: cables, a plastic bottle, headphones, etc. and a fictional story is created: each image must be used to erase the raccord errors.
